Meet the artist
Lin Jing
Born in 1974 in Guangzhou, China, Lin Jing is an artist whose practice bridges painting, sculpture, and design. After studying at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing and later at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels, she developed a visual language shaped by both Chinese and European artistic influences. She currently lives and works between Beijing and Brussels.
Lin Jing first developed her artistic practice through sculpture and collectible design, creating unique pieces and limited editions using materials such as wood, porcelain, textile, and metal. This close relationship with material remains central to her work today, where texture, gesture, and surface play an essential role.
Since 2015, she has focused primarily on painting while maintaining a sculptural approach to composition. Her works are built through layers, textures, and spontaneous interventions, creating dynamic surfaces where color and material constantly interact.
Rather than following a defined narrative, Lin Jing explores atmosphere, balance, and perception. Forms emerge and disappear freely, allowing space for interpretation and emotion. Her paintings move between control and spontaneity, density and lightness, creating a subtle tension throughout the composition.
Between abstraction and presence, her work develops a sensitive visual language in which material and emotion exist in constant dialogue.
