Meet the artist
Burhan Amer
Contemporary Belgian painter, born in 1960 in Tubas (Jordan). A self-taught artist, he has lived and worked in Belgium since 1987. With a background in engineering, Burhan turned to painting as a space of freedom, exploration, and generosity.
A Free and Intuitive Practice
With no academic training in art, Burhan Amer has developed a deeply instinctive approach to painting—liberated from technical constraints. This freedom fuels a powerful body of work shaped by emotion, texture, and movement. He shares:
“Art has always been part of my life in various ways, from my childhood in theater to writing poems and novels in my native language. My journey has allowed me to experience many cultures that continue to enrich me.”
His artworks are rich in material and emotional depth. He primarily uses acrylic paint but also incorporates other media and everyday objects to create vibrant, tactile compositions.
Between Strength and Elegance
Each piece invites the viewer into an introspective experience—one of immersion, emotion, and reflection. Burhan seeks a subtle balance between strength and elegance, discretion and exuberance. He explains:
“I feel the need to be generous in my paintings. The abundance of paint allows me to create unique textures. My color choices are guided by emotion and momentary influence.”
